The St Helena Beautification Foundation originated in 1978 for the efforts to save the 1880s Historic Elm Tree tunnel. Mayor Greta Ericson with the help of Saint Helena residents opposed California state's decision to remove all Elm trees on California’s right of ways because of Dutch Elm Disease.

The Beautification Foundation encourages, promotes, and cultivates the beautification of the City of St. Helena, in the heart of California’s Napa Valley
It has taken the tenacity of many, many people to preserve this renowned living landmark for future generations. With the cooperation and recognition of this historic resource by Caltrans and donations from Napa Valley residents, St Helena City and Beringer, this historic Elm Tunnel has survived.
St Helena Improvement

Our Latest Project
The St. Helena Beautification Committee is joining forces with the St. Helena Chamber of Commerce to help bring public art to St. Helena. We believe art mural projects will highlight St. Helena’s rich arts culture, greatly enhance the beauty of Main Street shopping district, and promote civic pride. Utilizing public art to celebrate St. Helena’s cultural and historical influences will help tell our community story and provide a unique experience to both the residents and visitors. Murals are known to be uplifting, deter graffiti, promote safety, and serve as a tool in economic development.
The St. Helena Chamber of Commerce and Beautification Committee has developed a “St. Helena Art Curator Committee” consisting of local business owners, artists, building owners, Nimbus Arts and passionate residents, to help bring art murals to St. Helena. The committee hopes to share its plans for future art murals in St. Helena in the Fall of 2023.
